What a managed Microsoft 365 environment needs

Email and file access are only part of Microsoft 365. A manageable tenant also needs clear account ownership, sensible licensing, multifactor authentication, permissions, device access and a process for joining or leaving staff. Iteology can review how Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive are configured and how people actually share business information.

The right setup depends on the organisation. A small team may need straightforward email, shared files and secure sign-in; a larger or regulated organisation may need more detailed access policies, retention decisions and change control. We explain what is covered by Microsoft’s platform, what your administrators must configure and whether independent backup is appropriate for the data and recovery expectations you have.

Migrations and ongoing administration

A migration should begin with a source inventory: mailboxes, domains, files, permissions, devices, applications that send email and users who depend on them. We plan identity, DNS changes, data movement, testing and the cutover so the business knows what will change and when. After migration, account provisioning, licence reviews and security settings need continuing attention.

For hybrid environments, cloud services must work alongside onsite servers, applications and connectivity. We can help decide what belongs in the cloud and what is better retained locally. If you are seeking help with a specific task, such as a tenant review, email migration or SharePoint structure, describe that task rather than assuming you need a complete managed package.

Plan for recovery, not just storage

Retention, recycle bins and platform availability are not the same as a tested recovery plan. Decide which mailboxes, SharePoint sites, OneDrive accounts and Teams information matter most, how far back you may need to recover, and who can authorise a restore. The answer may include built-in controls, an independent backup service or both.

A useful plan also covers accidental deletion, compromised accounts, departing staff and a failed migration. Restore tests should confirm that the right information can be recovered in a useful form and within a timeframe the business can accept. We can review these requirements alongside your Microsoft 365 configuration and broader business-continuity arrangements.
